Date of Purchase: September 2012
Date of install: March 2013
Results indicate that we are outperforming the previously used PE100
4 to 1 in terms of wall thickness lost per co-disposal ton, on this site.
Furthermore, as a by-product of the smoother pipe, it has been indicated
that blockage frequency was greatly reduced.
Lower velocity, lower pressure, and most significantly, lower max solid
size will provide a HUGE improvement in this
performance when compared with Steeel or PE100.
Client: Peabody
Location: Coppabella CHPP
Qty:~ 1.5km- 2lines
Connection Type: Stub flange- Table E
Date of Purchase: August 2014
Date of install: October 2014
The wear loss exhibited is similar to that of Hardened Steel. Our product being
30mm thick and the "extra strong" 250ID steel being 12.7mm means we have a lot
more wall thickness to play with prior to requiring rolling. Both being similary priced.
Should this be managed properly, the average lifespan of pipe will be 3 years (for
both lines)- rather than 1.5 years attributed to Steel.
The wear rate in straight lines was less than steel despite the high percentage of
150mm sharp rock.
The wear rate was exacerbated greatly in areas of severe misalignment.

The wear loss exhibited is half that of hardened Steel. Site was
particualrly pleased with how much lighter and easier the pipes
were to work with, including the lack of need for gaskets and
welding (all the steel is colar welded to allow for rolling, due to
high wear).

High wear rate line, involves some slack flow conditions.
Routinely operates at >5m/s (even >5.6m/s).
Performance benefits compared to PE100 have been dramatic 4x in high
wear (slack flow areas), up to 6x in lower wear rate zones.
Custom ID has allowed site to run the line harder than originally
designed, and certainly harder than would be
possible with PE100 whereby ID is constricted when moving up a
pressure grade (wall thickness).

Testing occured weekly for 3d elbows, bi-weekly for 5d elbows, monthly for straignts.
Results indicate that we are outperforming the previously used PE100 substantially.
We are showing negligible wear on straight spools.
Out performing PE100 4:1 on 3D elbows and 5:1 on 5D elbows.

Product was designed specifically to wear out, with
a reduced WT. Such that we could determine an appropriate wall thickness for
extended site life. Instead, it has been operational without change since installation.

WearPro operates at ~6.1 wear rate compared with PE100 in the
first two months of project.
This figure is given as estimated due
to the dredged media changing markedly throughout the project.
Where the original wear rate was ~10mm p/mth of PE100 and
1.5mm p/mth of WearPro, this turned into 5mm per month of
WearPro.
After the first two months. the project was no longer regularly
thickness tested - as it became
clear that WearPro was vastly
outperforming both steel and HDPE.
Subsequently, the client replaced the small portion of HDPE at
the end of their line 3 times over prior to project completion.
PBA was repeatedly told how lucky it was that our superior
product was chosen, because if the entire line had been run as
the
run as the original designed PE100 - this job would be hugely
loss making.
Mutual benefit and balanced performance is exactly why PBA
products are about.
